This tutorial was written
by Sarah Fiack on
June 4,2014
Any resemblance to another
tutorial is purely coincidental.
For this tutorial, I’m using a tube
by Robin McQuay. It is a PTU tube
that can be found at Digital Chaos.
Open a 700x700 new image.
Open up a tube of choice.

On your materials palette,choose two
colors from your tube -one for
each palette.

Select your rectangle tool preset
shape. Make sure width is set to 0.
Draw out a vertical rectangle on the
smaller side. You don't want it huge.
Convert to raster. Rename this rec 1.

This rectangle should be one of
your two colors. Position if needed
on one side of your tag.

Duplicate once & mirror.
Switch your colors on the material
palette. Fill the 2nd rectangle
with the other color. Rename this rec 2

Draw out a 3rd rectangle same
size as the other two. Fill this one with
color black. Make this rec 3.

In your layer palette, select rec 1

layer.Click on this layer with your magic

wand tool to select it.

Copy & paste your tube as a new layer.
Position part of it as you want on
the rec 1 layer. Selections invert
& press delete. Select none.

On the layer palette, change the
blend mode on the tube to Luminance.
Merge down.

Repeat the above steps with rec 2.
This time show a different part
of the tube. For mine, one had the
left eye & one had the right eye.

Now for rec 3 layer. On this one we
want to try & show both the tube parts

on the rectangle. It may depend on the
tube you are using. For mine, I was

able to show parts of both eyes.

In your layer palette, select rec 3

layer.Click on this layer with your magic

wand tool to select it.

Copy & paste your tube as a new layer.
Position part of it as you want on
the rec 3 layer. Selections invert
& press delete. Select none.

On the layer palette, change the
blend mode on the tube to Luminance.
Merge down.

Now position rec 3 above the
previous two rec layers. You want it
in the center of the other two - and

parts of the two rectangle layers

showing on each side of the 3rd one.

On each of the layers, apply two
gradient glows.
Glow width 3.00 Fat
& then Black halo.

Add a drop shadow to
rec 3 layer. 2,2,50,5 Black.

Select your pen tool.
Choose the line style barb wire.
Width 3.00
Draw out the line from end to
end above the 3 rectangle layers.

Convert to raster. Duplicate once
& flip -then mirror.

Choose your font tool.
Choose a fat font.
Make sure your caps lock is on
& Materials palette fill is black.

Type out the word MANIC or word
of choice. Convert to raster.
Position in center of your tag.
Lower the opacity to about 18.
Add the above drop shadow to
the text layer.

Crop to desired size.
Add artist copyright information
& name.
Save as png.
Thanks for trying my tutorial.
